Mary Collins, author of American Idle: A Journey Through Our Sedentary Culture, will discuss her book which "reads like a memoir but also includes a lot of colorful characters [she] met as [traveling] around the country looking for ways to get Americans moving again. [It] is a narrative and a cultural snapshot that brings her to a zoo, factory floors, a poor Hispanic neighborhood, [and] an enclave of young professionals in Washington.

Carole Goldberg will lead us in a discussion of the book, They Poured Fire on us from the Sky by Benson Deng. This book is part of the Farmington Valley One Book Program and will be discussed in libraries across the Farmington Valley Town in late September. The culminating event will take place when the authors talk at the Avon High School on Oct 8 at 7pm.
